Participation to SIOFA meetings

ln accordance with Article 13.4 of the Agreement and the paragraph 3.4 of SIOFA's Financial Regulations, the Secretariat invites all eligible CCPs or non-CCPs to submit their request for financial assistance to participate to meetings of the Southern lndian Ocean Fisheries Agreement (SIOFA)

Annex 1 of the Financial Regulations (see attached below) provides the guidelines to establish an application to request financial assistance. The Secretariat kindly reminds that financial assistance is limited to the participation of one representative per eligible CCP or non-CCP in meetings.

 According to the Financial Regulations, the application for financial assistance must contain:

  • Official nomination letter with request of support for identified representative (including contact details);

  • Confirmation that no funding is available from other sources;  

  • ln the case of CCPs, a confirmation that it is not in arrears and a confirmation that national and compliance reports have been submitted;

  • ln the case of non-CCPs, confirmation of expressed intention to apply for CNCP status. Eligible Contracting Parties that have access to other sources of funding, such as the Assistance Fund established under Part Vll of the UNFSA, are encouraged to make use of these sources. 

Please be advised that eligibility is subject to several criteria that you may find under the Annex 1 (paragraphs 3 to 6) of the SIOFA's Financial Regulation. Noting the above, applicants are invited to submit their application for financial assistance, no later than 50 days prior to the meetings.
